Our Story

Sav has always loved nature. As a kid, they often were wading through ponds or scouring the forest floor for interesting bugs and cool pieces of wood or stone. After being immersed in nature, they would often want to bring it home - leading to many instances of snakes or frogs being released in the house. 

Sav still brings the outside in, only now this tendency has a more refined quality. They work with many different mediums and like to change things up often, but their current work is with ethically sourced bugs in cloches and shadow boxes. These range from natural enclosures to the whimsical and witchy.

Their interest in artistic bug displays started when they experimented with pinning the surplus of dead cicadas surrounding their home in Omaha. This led to looking for a wider variety of ethically sourced bugs to pin online. After the COVID-19 pandemic, Sav started playing with the idea of up-cycled items with entomology art and in 2021 decided they wanted to bring their art to a wider audience and created Taurus Moon Curios!

The name of this shop comes from Sav’s astrological signs. They are a Leo Sun and a Taurus Moon. The Taurus Moon sign is associated with intuitively creating a life surrounded by beautiful things. Although they don't religiously follow star signs, they liked that sentiment. Thus, Taurus Moon Curios was born!
